Virtuozzo™ Management Console

Virtuozzo Management Console (VZMC) is a powerful remote and systems administrator management tool. Servers with hundreds of VEs can be managed like a standalone server with VZMC tools which include a VE creation wizard and templates which facilitate VE configuration, loading applications and software patch management.

VZMC also helps manage multiple servers efficiently. Applications can be deployed and updated on many servers simultaneously. The VZMC provides a centralized look at server information and software versions across all server resources, facilitating versioning and patch management. Virtuozzo replaces the most popular server resource management tool - the spreadsheet.

Easy Management

IT administrators at any skill level can provision multiple VEs at once, move VEs to other physical servers and start/stop and reboot as many VEs as required. The Virtuozzo virtualization layer makes management across Windows and Linux servers very similar, once an administrator becomes familiar with the VZMC, management across OS becomes transparent. Even better, VE users with systems administrator rights can perform all of the systems administrator functions without ever requesting the help of IT resources.

General Features

 VE Configuration - Modify configuration resource management parameters including CPU, memory, network I/O, and hard drive resources.
 VE Creation Wizards - Create virtual servers in a couple of clicks by creating VE templates through an intuitive wizard interface, including settings for resource management.
 VE virtualization - perform tasks such as migrating VEs between physical servers.
 Repair VE - Boot server in repair mode and fix server problems.
 Network Bandwidth & Classes Management & Accounting - limit total bandwidth on a VE basis, configure classes of bandwidth to be assigned to new VEs quickly, monitor network data transfer on an aggregate and class basis.

Template Management

Templates help IT administrators improve productivity. An OS or application template is a snapshot that can be applied to VEs or servers, saving initial application provisioning time and application and OS updating/upgrading time.

 Template Customization - alter out-of-the-box templates or existing templates easily to create new templates
 Revert Upgrade - revert an upgrade/update when applied through a template

Logs and Monitoring

Track VE performance and problems with the following alerts and logs:

 Alert - define one of many alert mechanisms (email, pop-up, etc) to proactively inform administrator of threshold issues associated with resource parameters to ensure that VEs have required resources and do not suffer performance degradation.
 Event Log - general log information contains VE creation, starts and stops and can be configured to capture every command that Virtuozzo runs.
 VZMC Monitor - graphically display real-time VE resource parameter information as well as replay log history. Intelligence built into the monitor remembers what information has been previously queried and will update once invoked.

Security

Securing VE Internet connections is a critical service offering.

 Hardware Node Firewall Configuration - intuitive GUI to disable unwanted access to the physical server.
 VE Firewall Configuration - provide firewall protection on a VE basis, also available in Virtuozzo Personal Edition.
 Virtualized Firewall - virtualize a firewall on the host system to product designated VEs.
 Critical Service Templates - VZMC includes predefined templates for creating critical services such as DNS. The templates contain generally recommended resource parameter information and firewall information if applicable.
