The Quantum DPM5500 Disk Library enhances Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2006 proposition through a sophisticated, yet easy-to-implement 5U (rack-unit) appliance. After installing a DPM5500, backup jobs are sent directly to the DPM5500 (the backup target).

Specifically tuned for efficient point-in-time performance, the DPM5500 offers a complete data protection solution that delivers increased replication opportunities resulting in greater restore granularity. Integrated features such as Opyton™ hardware-based compression technology lower total cost of ownership while tape migration capabilities support disaster recovery best practices and enable customers to frame their tiered storage environments. Together, Quantum’s value-added features and Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2006 deliver backup and restore benefits that no other company can deliver today.



The DPM5500 builds upon the Microsoft Data Protection Manager 2006 value proposition through a sophisticated, yet easy-to-implement 5U (rack-unit) appliance with a choice of 6 or 12 terabyte capacity and RAID 5 protection. The appliance can be easily integrated into the network via dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and TOE (TCP/IP offload engine) capabilities. Enterprise-class features such as redundant and hot-swappable fans, hot-swap disk drives and redundant power offer high availability. By offering these features within an appliance, Quantum alleviates the guesswork and time involved by customers in building a system from disparate pieces.

DPM5500 Product Services and Support

The DPM5500 includes a Guardian One-year On-site standard warranty. The warranty can be extended to three years at an affordable price. Additional service contracts upgrading response levels to 5x9x4 and 7x24x4 are also available. Professional Installation and Integration services can be purchased through Quantum. The DPM5500 is supported by StorageCare Guardian, StorageCare™ Guardian enables Quantum to proactively monitor the health of Quantum systems over the internet and uses intelligent diagnostics data to remotely service the equipment if issues arise.
